FAQs

Q: Do I Need to Choose the Frame or Glasswork Now?
A:  No, the first thing to do is reserve freezer space. The display options can come later. Wedding bouquets take more space and time than memorial or special event flowers. This why a reservation is recommended for wedding flowers. Another consideration is, I will not process a flower that I have not worked with (at my expense). I know first hand the meaning of a special flower and take every precaution possible with someone's once-in-a-lifetime memory.

Q: How soon do I need to get my flowers to you?
A: The sooner I begin the process the better the results. I provide a pick up service for the local cliental. There is a fee charged for this service. Memories usually are time consuming and sometimes exhausting. Your flowers need special attention that can get over looked in all the excitment. You can also ship the flowers to me. If shipping, contact me for the details at 336-236-1234.

Q: How do I care for my flowers until I get them to you?
A: Keep in a cool place or a refrigerator. Make sure the refrigerator will not freeze lettuce.  Never place in a freezer. Before placing in the cool place: Mist with distilled water never use tap water. The chemicals  in tap water can cause  a yellow discoloration. Wet the foam inside the holder. Take care not to bump or touch your flowers.( I cannot reverse browning or bruising on the flower. There are ways to cover slight damage. )Loosely cover the bouquet with plastic, taking care not to mash or flatten the flowers. It is recommended you not toss your bouquet. Most brides have a smaller one to toss.

Q: Will my flowers change colors?
A: Some times there can be a change. Red flowers darken or have a purple color. Whites, pinks, yellows become "antiqued". Magnolias turn a dark tea stained color. Gardenias can become yellow (if they are an older flower or get touched). I color enhance each flower after it has been sealed. This will lessen the appearance of the change in the color.

Q: Can all flowers be freeze dried?
A: Many flowers preserve beautifully. There are pretreatments that aid in the preservation of difficult flowers. I have successfully freeze dried coneflowers and daisy mums. Usually weddings flowers do very well in the freeze drying process. If you plan to use an unusual flower give me plenty of notice. I will not freeze dry a flower without experimenting on a flower of like kind at my cost first.  I have freeze dried many types of flowers successfully.

Q: Do all preservationists use the same process?
A: People have preserved flowers for centuries. When the tombs were opened in Egypt they discovered flowers with a life like appearance. They do not know how they processed the flowers but I think that is amazing. Freeze drying flowers has not been around as long as the pyramids, but it is the best method in our time.
Our equipment is expensive and  to do each individual flower is very labor intensive. That is why there are not that many preservationists. Not all use the pretreatments. (There are some flowers that do not need or that you cannot use pretreatments on.)
I do use the appropriate treatment for each individual flower. Each bouquet is taken apart.  It can be reassembled or just a few of the flowers can be used for a simple display.

Q: Is there a deposit required when you receive my flowers?
A: Yes there is a non refundable deposit of $95.00 for a bouquet and a $20.00 non refundable deposit for one to four medium size special event flowers.  This amount is deducted from the completed keepsake price.
